Things you may not have known about the Watchmen movie.


– One of the screenplay writers, David Hayter, also wrote the screenplays to X-Men and X2. However, he also wrote the screenplay to The Scorpion King.

– The other writer, Alex Tse? This is his first feature screenplay.

– Director Zack Snyder (Dawn Of The Dead, 300) has already stated that the film’s ending will differ greatly from the graphic novels’ controversial climax.

– The full Watchmen cast list is as follows: Carla Gugino (Sally Jupiter/Silk Spectre), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Comedian), Patrick Wilson (Nite Owl), Billy Crudup (Doctor Manhattan), Jackie Earle Haley (Rorschach), Matthew Goode (Ozymandias) and Malin Akerman (Silk Spectre II).

– It was originally due to be directed by Paul Greengrass, who dropped out to make United 93 instead. Other previously attached directors include Terry Gilliam (dropped out to make The Brothers Grimm) and Darren Aranofsky (left for The Fountain).

– Writer of the original graphic novel Alan Moore has hated all cinematic incarnations of his previous works, including The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell, V For Vendetta and Constantine.

– Original graphic novel Watchmen was included in Time Magazine’s Top 100 Books Of All Time.

– Its due out March 6th, 2oo9.

  1. As leave-your-brain-at-the-door fluff goes The Scorpion King wasn’t too bad and if that’s the biggest blot on the resume well then it’s fair to say they could have done a lot worse.

    I’m glad they’re changing the ending. In the book it was a big pile of shite. Such wonderful writing, character and intrigue that lead to nothing but some half arsed sci-fi cack.

    I’m sure I’m ever happy with Moore’s apparent insistence that to make the world a better place all you need is anarchy.
