Teaser for ‘Eagle Eye’

Below is the first footage from Eagle Eye, the latest thriller to be directed by D.J. Caruso, starring Shia LaBeouf, Billy Bob Thornton and Michelle Monaghan.

In the film, a single mother (Monaghan) forms an unlikely alliance with a slacker (LaBeouf) as they are framed as terrorists and are forced to join a cell plotting a political assassination. They must work together to extricate themselves while being led by a mysterious voice.

There isn’t much indication of all that in this teaser, but it’s setting up some anticipation of the action and intrigue involved. LaBeouf is still only on the cusp of proper manhood, so the smattering of facial hair on show here isn’t quite enough to convince that he’s old enough. However, after his recent impressive turn in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom fo the Crystal Skull, we’re willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. This could be a proper grown-up role for him, after working with Caruso before on the decidedly more “teen-y” Disturbia.

The odd “no, no” crept in (click here if you’re not sure what we mean!), but too early to tell if it’ll be come The Beef’s signature thing in all of his films (it was pretty much kept in check by The ‘Berg in Indy4).

Personally, I’m just happy for Michelle Monaghan that she’s been cast opposite someone who’s actually a few inches taller than her. She’s been stuck with a string of shorties for the past while now (Ben Stiller – Heartbreak Kid; Tom Cruise – Mission Impossible: III; Robert Downey Jr – Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang; Casey Affleck – Gone Baby Gone) so hopefully she’ll be able to bring out the high heels at some stage in this!
